Heart-Shaped Pizza on the Grill for a Romantic Valentine's Day Dinner
Happy Valentine's Day, pizza lovers. Today we're making an Italian-style heart-shaped pizza, perfect for a romantic evening at home.
Italian-style pizza dough (for high-heat cooking)
This dough is built to cook at high heat, around 500°F, for a crisp crust.
Ingredients
- 500 g (17.6 oz) type 00 flour or all-purpose flour
- 300 ml (10.1 oz) lukewarm water
- 10 g (0.35 oz) salt
- 7 g (0.25 oz) dry yeast
- 2 tbsp olive oil
Instructions
- In a large mixing bowl, add the flour and make a well in the center.
- In a separate bowl, dissolve the yeast in the lukewarm water and let it sit about 5 minutes, until it begins to foam.
- Add the salt, olive oil, and yeast mixture to the well in the center of the flour.
- Using your hands or a fork, slowly mix the ingredients together until a dough forms.
- Turn the dough out onto a floured surface and knead for about 8 to 10 minutes, until smooth and elastic.
- Place the dough in a large greased bowl, cover with plastic wrap or a damp towel, and let it rise in a warm, draft-free place for about 1 hour, until doubled in size.
- Turn it out onto a floured surface and divide into two equal pieces.
- Shape each piece into a ball and cover with plastic wrap. Let the dough rest about 15 minutes before using.
