Place the tip of the corn into the center hole of the bundt pan to hold it still and upright. Then simply slice downward with a sharp knife and let the kernels drop into the pan. No fuss, no mess!!
2. EGGS-ACTLY! – If you’ve forgotten exactly how old your eggs are, you can easily check for freshness. Fill a bowl with cold water and place your eggs in the bowl.
If your eggs sink to the bottom and lay on their sides, they are fresh and ready to use. If they stand up on one end at the bottom of the bowl, they’re still good to use, but they are getting older so use them up soon. If your eggs float, it’s time for an egg toss!
3. NO FOG CLOGS! – We all love those scrumptious foods that seem to be fatty, oily and greasy (FOG!), especially some of those foods fresh off your BBQ grill!! The problem is that when we wash those dishes, the FOG goes right down your sink drain and can build up.
Make sure to occasionally boil a pot of water, add a little dish soap, and pour it down your drain. This helps the FOG from foods to run down the drain and helps prevent buildup, which can lead to clogged drains.
4. HOW TO CUT THE CHEESE! – If you’ve ever tried grating a semi-soft cheese, you know it can be a real pain in the….neck! You lose a lot of the cheese because it breaks up and sticks to the grater.
Before starting to grate the cheese, spray your grater with a little non-stick cooking spray. This will help make your grater cleanup a little easier and grating the cheese a little less messy!
5. NO MORE BROWN BANANAS! – Doesn’t it seem like your bananas are a little green today, and the next time you look at them they are brown and spotty? What happened?? To keep them fresh longer, try keeping them in a bunch and out of the bag.
You can also wrap the stems of your bananas in plastic wrap. This will slow down the ripening process and hopefully give you a couple extra days before you have brown mush!
6. CHOP, CHOP! – Chop your herbs, such as parsley, by using a pizza wheel rather than chopping with a knife. There is less chance of cutting a finger, and we think it is quicker!
7. UPSIDE DOWN! – Instead of sitting your natural peanut butter upright, try storing it upside down. This allows the oils to move through the peanut butter. It makes the peanut butter creamier, and you won’t have to stir and stir to mix in the oils. Just make sure your lid is on tightly!
8. PERFECTLY ROUND! – If you’d like to have a nice, round fried egg, use the ring (or band) from a mason jar. Spray the ring with cooking spray, place it in your frying pan, and crack your egg into the middle of the ring. Cook to your desired doneness and then use a pair of tongs to remove the ring. Perfectly round!
9. SLICE AWAY! – Use your egg slicer to slice more than just eggs. You can use it to slice soft cheeses, fruits and veggies such as strawberries or avocados. You can also use your apple slicer to slice your potatoes into perfect wedges!
10. SHEAR MAGIC! – Every kitchen needs a good pair of kitchen shears! You don’t want to use your everyday scissors in the kitchen. They can have everything from glue to tape on them.
And just like the Kona Multi Grill Tool Set (which is a 6 in 1 tool), kitchen shears are multifunctional. The scissor part can be used to chop veggies or herbs, or to cut open bags.
But there is also a gripper that can be used to open bottles or to crack nuts or shells. Some come with a flathead screwdriver on the handle for quick fixes.
There is also a bottle opener. A good pair of shears can be used to cut poultry and other foods. Always make sure to purchase shears that disassemble for easy cleaning!
